A familiar voice needs real permission.

The rule

Only add a voice recording when the speaker has knowingly agreed to this specific use, or you have another clear legal right to use the voice. A recording found online, taken from a call, or copied from media is not permission by itself.

When BookBoy asks you to confirm permission, answer honestly. The confirmation is not a substitute for obtaining consent or checking the law that applies to you.

Good uses

• Your own voice for personal listening.
• A family member or friend who has explicitly agreed to have their voice used for narration.
• A voice you are authorized to use under a contract, license, or other clear permission.

Never use a voice to

• Pretend to be a real person, hide that narration is synthetic, or obtain money, access, information, or trust by deception.
• Harass, threaten, defame, exploit, sexually manipulate, or otherwise harm anyone.
• Create material involving a minor without the permission and protections required by law, or use any voice in connection with illegal content.
• Infringe intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, biometric, or other rights.

Keep the reference safe

Voice references, their transcripts, and generated narration are kept in your local BookBoy storage during normal use. Treat that storage as personal material: secure your Mac, avoid sharing the files, and delete a custom voice if you no longer have permission to use it.

If the speaker withdraws permission, stop using the voice and remove its reference recording and related generated audio from your Mac where practical.

Enforcement and questions

We may suspend or revoke a license where we reasonably believe BookBoy is being used unlawfully or in a way that creates serious harm. If you have a concern about voice misuse connected to BookBoy, email mail@bookboy.xyz with enough detail for us to review it.
